What Is Impact Crusher

An impact crusher is a machine that uses striking as opposed to pressure to reduce the size of a material. Impact crushers are designated as a primary, secondary, tertiary or quarternary rotor crusher depending on which processing stage the equipment is being utilized.  Impact Crushers are available in stationary, track, and portable configurations meeting any demand for any of these industries. Although Impact Crushers generally have a higher operating cost than other crushers, they tend to produce a more uniform particle shape (cubical) which is desirable and produce more fines for hot asphalt producers. Common types of Impact Crushers are Horizontal Shaft Impactor (HSI) and Vertical Shaft Impactor (VSI). While the ultimate design of each type of impactor is to crush rock, their methodologies differ.

What Is Horizontal Shaft Impact (HSI) Crusher

The word impact makes sense that in this particular type of crusher some impaction is being used for crushing of rocks. In normal types of crusher pressure is generated for the crushing of rocks. But, impact crushers involve an impact method. There is a hopper one side that takes the crushing materials into the machine. All material is carried only within a cage. This cage has an opening on the end, bottom and on the side. These opening help in escaping the pulverized material from the impact crusher.

How a HSI Crusher Works

The shaft installed horizontally impact crushers create material reduction by providing a sudden impact force that causes the material to shatter along all the weakest fissures in the stone. They consist of blow bars that are fixed to the spinning rotor which is driven by the motor, and the rotor revolves at a high speed. Revolving blow bars in the rotor blow the materials. Then the materials will be thrown to the impact plates for secondary crushing. The materials will be shot back to the blow bars again. This process repeats until the materials are crushed to the required size and discharged through the discharging opening at the bottom of the horizontal shaft impact crusher. Adjusting the gap between the impact rack and rotor support, the size and shape of the final products can be changed.

Why Powerups HSI Crusher

Powerups HSI series horizontal shaft impact crusher has been designed for the economic secondary crushing and, depending on its configurations, processing of either soft and medium-hard or hard rocks. They feature an excellent combination of heavy rotor, wear material and crushing chamber design. This combination has improved capacity, final product quality and reduced operating and wear parts cost. It’s capable of crushing majority kinds of ores such as feldspar, calcite, barite, fluorite, tombarthite, coke, basalt, concrete, limestone, etc, and the premium quality blow bar and breaker plates ensure the unbeatable performances in either primary, secondary or tertiary applications.

What Is Vertical Shaft Impact (VSI) Crusher

The word impact makes sense that in this particular type of crusher some impaction is being used for crushing of rocks. In normal types of crusher pressure is generated for the crushing of rocks. But, impact crushers involve an impact method. The first Vertical Shaft Impact Crusher was invented by Francis E. Agnew in 1920s. They are designed to be used in secondary, tertiary or quaternary stage crushing. The crushers are suitable for a wide range of applications including the production of high quality manufactured sand, well formed aggregates and industrial minerals. Crushers can also be used for shaping or removal of soft stone from aggregate. Vertical Shaft Impact (VSI) crushers are designed to be used in secondary, tertiary or quaternary stage crushing. The crushers are suitable for a wide range of applications including the production of high quality manufactured sand, well formed aggregates and industrial minerals. Crushers can also be used for shaping or removal of soft stone from aggregate.

How a VSI Crusher Works

Vertical shaft impact crusher has a high speed rotor with wear resistant tips and a crushing chamber designed in such a way so that feed material drops through the feed tube onto the impeller table or enclosed rotor which, through centrifugal force, speed rotor throw the rocks against the crushing chamber.  The VSI crushers utilize velocity rather than surface force as the predominant force to break rock. This method of crushing is simple and economical to operate.

Powerups VSI Crusher

Powerups VSI series vertical shaft impact crushers are designed to produce fine material or medium-fine material, well formed aggregates and industrial minerals, which have the advantages of high performance delivery and lower power consumption. There are two kinds of crushing chambers, ‘rock-on-rock’ and ‘rock-on-iron’, and each chamber can be converted to the other by replacing a few simple parts. With its wide operation range and high performance, Powerups VSI crushers are the most effective and reliable crusher, especially suitable for manufactured sand, cubical products fractured gravel and material beneficiation.

Features and Benefits

√ Production gradation remains constant
√ Low contamination rates
√ Unbeatable product shape
√ Safe operation and easy control
